Home Page | Vaporizing Accessories | Pros and Cons of Glass & Quartz Nails
A few months ago, a friend and I went to our local smoke shop to review any new products they might have that excite us.
This time I wanted to try something different.
I wanted variety to be able to share a new experience with other dab enthusiasts.
I proceeded to view their dab nail selection.
There is a lot of controversy concerning dab nails and this was my chance to see things for myself. Many people believe quartz nails are better than glass nails, and vice versa.
To solve this puzzle once and for all, I went for it. I bought both.
After careful experimentation of both nails for my own personal preference, I came to my conclusion. Here is a review to help you develop an opinion of your own.
Is money an issue when buying your concentrate equipment?
No worries. Glass and quartz nails are both very affordable compared to other types of nails like ceramic. If you would like to own both, it wouldn’t hurt your wallet too much either.
Do you favor flavor?
Both glass and quartz nails are known to greatly enhance the taste of your concentrates.
As an added bonus, these nails don’t require any prior seasoning. Just put that nail on your rig and heat up that fresh dab.
Is health a big concern for you?
Don’t worry about inhaling any dangerous metals or other chemicals with these bad boys.
Still can’t decide if a glass and quartz nail would be better for you?
The quartz nail is more durable and retains heat longer than glass.

Are these dab nails perfect?
Every product has its good and not-so-good qualities. Since we’ve already touched on 3 large benefits, let’s discuss the potential down-sides.
Glass and quartz don’t have the same strength as metal nails. Overtime they may chip away, break completely, or become impossible to clean.
Glass has been noted to leave slightly more residue that other nail types. This can become an annoyance because you will be replacing them more often if you dab frequently.
When vaporizing concentrates, there is a specific temperature range that is just right. Anywhere from 600-800 degrees fahrenheit. *710 degrees is a popular favorite.
When the temperature is just right, the concentrate vaporizes nice and slowly providing you with that smooth, fresh taste.
With these nails it can be difficult to locate that specific temperature. And if you do, that heat will be quickly lost and can waste some of your precious, delicious concentrate.
My Very First Terrifying Experience With A Quartz Nail
Ready for a great story?
This is my first quartz nail experience and let’s just say it was HORRIFIC.
A few friends and myself gave our quartz nail it’s first dab.
The concentrate literally sparked a fire in the nail, flaming about six inches high. Luckily I had quick enough reflexes that I didn’t singe ALL my eyebrows off! lol!
Later on we realized that there was a tiny piece of paper in the concentrate without us noticing.
Needless to say – the nail was never the same again…
Don’t make this same mistake. ALWAYS double check your concentrate for any debris!
Personally, my preference goes to the glass nail.
The quality taste is unbeatable in my book.
Even though I own both a quartz nail and glass nail, glass is my go to nail for flavor.
Don’t let my opinion persuade yours though.
Give titanium, ceramic and quartz nails a try as well!
